Making the decision to start working out consistently is an amazing one but, it can also be scary of overwhelming. At FitHealth, we believe exercise is one of the five factors of health that are crucial to living a happy, healthy, and balanced life. It can be really hard to even figure out where to start and what to keep in mind when starting to workout. These are the most important things to remember!
Start slow
It can be really easy to burn yourself out or put your body into shock by pushing yourself too hard at the beginning. To start out, three 30 minutes workouts a week is a great way to acclimate your body to your new workout routine. You should also start with basic workouts like squats and lunges rather than getting in over your head with the complicated workouts you see on your favorite influencers fitspiration page.
Consistency over intensity
It’s easy to go all in and push yourself as far as you can when working out. This is a huge mistake. It’s much more important to have a consistent workout than focus on your intensity. Focusing on intensity is a great way to get burnt out and destroy your body which will ultimately lead to you giving up within a few weeks!
Find a support system
We all have days where we don’t want to get up off the couch and get to the gym. It’s so important to have people in your life to encourage you and push you on the days where you don’t have the energy to push yourself. Whether it’s a personal trainer, a gym buddy, or a social media group; you have to find people that are in the same mindset as you.
Find what you like
Just because you’ve decided to workout now doesn’t mean you have to love every workout class, gym routine or form of cardio. Find what you love and make a routine that works for you. Whether it be a combination of on your own gym sessions and group classes or just choosing one of the two, you have to find what inspires you to keep pushing to develop into a happier healthier you!
