Life is crazy. It seems like everyday something new is thrown at us that we have to deal with. Whether it be work or your personal life or both, sometimes it can all just seem like too much to manage. At FitHealth, we believe that mental health is just as important, if not more important than physical health. Because of this, we want to do our best to provide you with tips to stay calm and focused on a daily basis so you’re best equipped to throw whatever life throws at you. These are sometimes we all personally use on a daily basis to tackle the stressful things life throws at us everyday.
Be a Planner
Now of course we know you can’t plan unforeseen circumstances. But, you can plan out the rest of your day or week to ensure everything else on your to do list gets accomplished in a timely manner as well as allocate time in your schedule if you often have sudden changes in your schedule. This way you’re more flexible to deal with it when your blindsided by circumstances out of your control.
Be Flexible
Trust us, we know, this is easier said than done. It almost seems counterintuitive for us to tell you to be a planner AND to be flexible doesn’t it? Of course, it’s important to plan your weeks to make sure you give yourself time to get everything done. But, it’s also important to understand that life is unpredictable and it is impossible to plan your life perfectly every single day. And guess what? That’s okay! Sometimes in life, you just have to roll with the punches. So when things don’t go your way, take a deep breath and remember that it’s okay! Pick yourself up, rearrange your day and move forward.
Delegate
I’m going to be honest with you, this is probably the hardest one for me. I sometimes convince myself that there’s no possible way anyone else could take care of all of the things I do on a daily basis as well as I do. That’s just plain wrong and to be honest a tad bit conceded of me. It can be pretty hard to ask for help sometimes but, you’d be surprised how many people in your life are more than willing to take some of the weight off of your shoulders when life gets really crazy. Don’t forget to take advantage of the greatest resource you have, your friends, family, and colleagues.
Look at the Big Picture
This is probably the most important piece of advice we can give you. It can be so easy to be all consumed by the really bad days when the stress keeps piling on. Something I often ask myself when things seem just a bit too unbearable, will this matter in a week? Or a month? Or a year? I’ll tell you what, 9 times out of 10 the answer is no! Remember that even though today’s problems can seem positively overwhelming, chances are the only thing that needs to change is your perspective.
